The hot dogs that will be walking the runway will model the New Yorkie label for pets. The proceeds will then be used to support the Angel on a Leash organization

Gone are the days of clearance gear at Petsmart for these pooches. They are living in high style and many have high expectations for them as they walk the runway and, more than likely, steal the show.

Interview with Mike Henderson – This Week’s #twotels Winner

•January 13, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Going forward, we will be doing something a little different with the #twotels award. Rather than just feature the winner’s Twitter or Facebook profile on our blog, we are taking it a step further. We are going to be conducting interviews with the winner and posting the interview here. We want to give the winner an opportunity to tell us a little more about h/erself than that which is displayed on a social media profile. In the spirit of community-building, we want our valued guests and friends to get to know each other more on a personal level.

Mike Henderson, Middlesbrough – England, aged 43, Deputy Headteacher at a large 11-18 school in North East England, married with 2 children, Annie and Will. Hobbies cooking, photography, skiing and mountain biking

So without further ado, this week’s #twotels winner is a skilled photographer from Middlesbrough, England – Mike Henderson, with a brilliant photo capturing the excitement of NYC at night:

Interview with Mike Henderson

1. When did you come to New York?
My wife and I stayed for four nights from Saturday 17th until Tuesday 20th December 2011 as a special Christmas present to each other to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.

2. What was the most exciting thing about your New York trip?

As it was our first visit, we found most of it exciting and thoroughly enjoyed visiting the sights we’d previously only ever seen in the movies. If I had to choose one highlight it would probably being able to photograph the breath-taking view from the Top Of The Rock at night.

3. What was the worst part of your vacation to New York?

Unfortunately there were no View Rooms available by the time we booked. The room had an extremely comfy bed but was possibly the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in.

4. Which room did you stay in at our hotel?
We stayed in room 2316.

5. What did you like about our hotel?
I was attracted to the idea of staying in a hotel with a bit of character and combined with an ideal central location and competitive room rates this made choosing the New Yorker an easy decision to make.

6. What can we improve on?
Apart from the fact that the room was a little on the small side, I can’t make any sensible suggestions for improvement. There are very few hotels in England that provide free wifi so that was a big plus as I was able to send pictures and messages back to my children via Facebook. Perhaps live streaming of EPL soccer games maybe?!!!

When do you plan to visit New York next?
If I had my way, I would come back next December and spend longer photographing the city properly. Unfortunately I have a feeling I will be told that our finances won’t stretch to another visit so soon!!

We’d like to congratulate you, Mike, on winning this week’s #twotels award. We hope you had an enjoyable stay, and we look forward to serving you again soon!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,900 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
