I’ll Take Manhattan
by Sallie Brady
Whether it’s for the shopping, theater, dining, or the holiday lights, the season’s not complete without a visit to New York City. Commute in for a day, take a long weekend, or make it a real vacation, but find a way to sample what’s new and exciting in the Big Apple.

The season’s big hotel news is the reopening of the Morgans Hotel (morganshotel.com), one of the city’s first 1980s boutique hotels, that’s been given an extensive facelift. Also fresh from a redo is the 75-year-old New Yorker Hotel, a 910-room classic right by Madison Square Garden. For families or extended visits, an apartment hotel, like The Marmara Manhattan (marmara-manhattan.com), where even studios come with kitchens, can be budget-friendly. And if you’re headed to New York for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, book a parade-route hotel like Dream New York (dreamny.com) along the Central Park West-Columbus Circle-Broadway-Seventh Avenue journey. |
